Assessing quality of life in the EU candidate countries
This report presents an overview of living conditions in the five current EU candidate countries – Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey. It reviews three broad areas – quality of life, quality of public services and quality of society – and covers indicators on:
- subjective well-being, standard of living, aspects of deprivation and work–life balance
- healthcare, long-term care, childcare and other public services
- social insecurity, perceptions of social exclusion and societal tensions, trust in people and institutions, participation and community engagement, and involvement in training
The report has been built from a review of the results from the 2016 European Quality of Life Survey (EQLS).
