We are pleased to invite you to the third webinar organised by the Apprenticeship Support Services on ‘Trade Unions and the Development of Apprenticeship Training in Europe’.
European trade unions are often engaged in skills development, and more specifically apprenticeship training. This involvement may take place at European, national, sectoral and/or enterprise levels.
This webinar will look into why trade unions are involved and explore the benefits for them, their members and workers in general. The webinar will also discuss the nature of their engagement, whether it is in terms of participating in regulatory and/or consultative bodies, engaging in collective bargaining and/or providing support and guidance for workers at the enterprise level. Of course, not all trade unions are involved in apprenticeship training. Hence, the webinar will also focus on the barriers to trade union engagement and the strategies to overcome them.
Dr Jeff Bridgford, the expert speaker, is a Visiting Senior Research Fellow in the School of Education, Communication and Society at King’s College London.
Jeff was the founding Director of the European Trade Union College (ETUCO), the education and training wing of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), which created and developed a community of trade union educators throughout Europe, set up a European methodology for trade union education and delivered hundreds of European seminars for trade union leaders, officers and representatives. He is currently acting as an expert for the European Commission and the International Labour Organisation.
The webinar will take place on 2nd October, 2019 at 10:00 AM CET. In order to secure your place, please register using the link below.
